Samantha Ronson gave more clarity about her relationship with Lindsay Lohan in an article in Harper's Bazaar on Tuesday.
Ronson, 30, her brother Mark, 32, and twin sister Charlotte, 30, were featured in the magazine, being referred to as the "Royal Ronsons," an allusion to "The Royal Tennenbaums".
Sam described her shock in the media's interest in her relationship with Lindsay Lohan. "Even the airport-security guy in Canada asked me, 'So, is it true?'" laughs Samantha. "It's like, 'Oh, yeah, I'm telling you.'" Charlotte adds, "The funniest thing was, I bought a bunch of those tabloid magazines and didn't even notice that Samantha was on the cover of one."
"I'm not going to talk about Lindsay because she's my friend, you know?," says Sam. "She's great. She's also 22 years old. I think people forget that. With the Internet the way it is, one second we're enemies, one second we're best friends, one second we're lovers, and then we're broken up."
Lohan responded to Harper's Bazaar via e-mail. "I love the Ronsons," said Lohan. "They're close to my [heart] and I respect all the work they do. Samantha and my relationship is a private matter."
"Samantha was and still is my renaissance child," says her mother Ann Dexter-Jones. "She always loved music and books and had a tremendous curiosity and intensity, whatever subject caught her imagination."
However, Samantha, a celebrity DJ and club owner, is not the only talented sibling. Mark, the world-renowned DJ and producer, recently won three Grammys for producing Amy Winehouse's critcally-acclaimed album "Back to Black". He is also a celebrity DJ who has spun records for such big-time acts as Duran Duran to Jay-Z.
Charlotte, Sam's twin sister, is a fashion designer whose custom T-shirt line began being worn by Kate Moss and Gwen Stefani. She then formed C. Ronson, a contemporary line, and then two years later, launched Charlotte Ronson label, which pulled in an impressive $22 million in worldwide sales in 2007.
The Ronsons were born to Dexter-Jones, a socialite and writer, and Laurence Ronson, a British real estate heir and band manager. Dexter-Jones then eventually remarried to Mick Jones of Foreigner. The family then moved to New York.
The September issue of Harper's Bazaar is on stands Aug. 19.
