A wildfire that broke out in Herriman, Utah Sunday afternoon was caused by machine gun fire at the Utah National Guard base at Camp Williams. According to a spokesman for the Unified Fire Authority, the fire was sparked around 12 p.m. by guardsmen practicing with a machine gun.
Nearly 150 firefighters worked through the night trying to contain the fire, which burned about 3,500 acres. At least 4 homes have been destroyed and some 1,500 families have been evacuated from their homes.
Strong 50 mph winds are fueling the blaze.
