The Colombian military bombed a FARC camp near the border of Ecuador Sunday, killing at least 22 guerrillas. The camp was located in a jungle area near San Miguel, Putumayo.
Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera says more bodies could be found as troops were still combing the area. Troops also recovered computers and weapons, including 17 riles.
The air strike comes weeks after nearly 50 policeman and soldiers were killed in various attacks by members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said Sunday’s operation was "the biggest blow in recent times" to the rebel group.
