Cindy McCain Hospitalized Suffering Sprain From “Enthusiastic Fan”

Cindy McCain went to a Michigan hospital and was treated for a minor sprain Wednesday when an “enthusiastic supporter” shook her hand too hard. The 54-year-old wife of Republican nominee John McCain was at a fundraiser when the incident happened.

“At some point during the rope line an enthusiastic supporter shook Mrs. McCain’s hand and exacerbated an existing carpal tunnel condition for which she has had previous surgeries," McCain's spokesperson Melissa Shuffield said. "Out of an abundance of caution, she decided to leave the event and visit the local hospital for X-rays where she was treated for a minor sprain.”

Shuffield added that everyone’s concern is “appreciated.”
