A fire broke out Monday underneath a railroad bridge in New York City. The blaze began shortly before noon, according to Frank Dwyer of the NYC Fire Department. About 60 firefighters were at the scene and had the fire contained by 1 p.m. There have been no reports of injuries or deaths associated with the incident.
The fire started on a wooden pier under the 138th Street lift bridge, which crosses over the Harlem River. The Metro North commuter train to and from Grand Central Station was suspended for over 2 hours. It resumed operations around 2:30 p.m.
The cause of the blaze is unknown.
