Shooting at Fort Bliss Army Base Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Wounded

A man shot two women at a convenience store on Fort Bliss army base Monday afternoon. According to reports, a 60-year-old man opened fire on two women at the store around 3 p.m. local time. When base law enforcement officers reached the scene, they asked the gunman to put down his weapon and surrender. The suspect, believed to be a former employee of the store, was shot and killed after he refused.

It is unclear if the women are in the military. Officials have refused to release details on their conditions. No other details on the shooting were available. The FBI is investigating the incident.

Fort Bliss straddles the border of Texas and New Mexico. It is home to the First Armored Division.
