Barack Obama Campaign Raises $51 Million in July

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama continued to rake in the fundraising dollars, adding another $51 million to his campaign during the month of July and pushing his cash on hand to $65.8 million.

According to the Obama campaign the contributions raised included money from 65,000 new donors.

Obama’s fundraising dollars dwarfed those raised by his Republican rival John McCain who reported an influx of $27 million in July.

For McCain, the $27 million was yet another record for his campaign, surpassing the $22 million it raised in June.
