Bomb Explodes at Military Parade in Iran, 9 Dead

Nine people died Wednesday when a bomb exploded at a military parade in western Iran. Authorities have labeled the incident a terrorist attack. The explosion took place in the city of Mahabad in Azerbaijan province.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, all of the victims were women and children. At least 20 people were wounded in the attack.

The parade was part of the Sacred Defense Week ceremonies, which mark the beginning of Iran’s war with Iraq in 1980.

No other details on Wednesday’s explosion were available.
