Baby Sitter, 11, Charged with Murder of 2 Year Old

An 11-year-old girl has been charged in the death of a 2-year-old she was babysitting over the weekend. Police in Sandy Springs, Georgia say the girl was taking care of Zyda White Saturday while the child died.

Zyda’s mother, Ashlea Collier, called 911 from the baby sitter’s home after finding her daughter unresponsive. The baby sitter’s mother began CPR. Zyda was pronounced dead at Scottish Rite Hospital. The 11-year-old claimed Zyda had fallen out of bed.

An autopsy shows Zyda suffered blunt force trauma to the head, torso and buttocks. The baby sitter has been charged with felony murder and cruelty to children. She is being held at the Metro Youth Detention Center in Atlanta.
