Men Accuse Pastor Eddie Long of Sexual Coercion

Two Georgia men claim prominent Atlanta, Georgia pastor Eddie Long coerced them into sex using bible verses and his authority as Bishop of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Anthony Flagg, 21, and Maurice Murray Robinson, 20, filed lawsuits against Long Tuesday in DeKalb County.

A spokesman for Long has denied the allegations. “It is very unfortunate that someone has taken this course of action. Our law firm will be able to respond once attorneys have had an opportunity to review the lawsuit,” said spokesman Art Franklin.

The lawsuits say Long has a “pattern and practice of singling out a select group of young male church members and using his authority as Bishop over them to ultimately bring them to a point of engaging in a sexual relationship.”

Both plaintiffs claim Long often took them on overnight trips and engaged in sexual acts. "Long shared a bedroom and engaged in intimate sexual contact with plaintiff Flagg including kissing, massaging, masturbating of plaintiff Flagg by defendant Long and oral sexual contact," Flagg’s lawsuit says.

Flagg and Robinson also claim many church employees knew about Long’s relationship with them, but did nothing to stop it. The men claim Long and employees often gave them money and lavish gifts.

Both lawsuits are seeking punitive damages from Long.
