Ernie Els Elected to Hall of Fame

South African Golfing Great Memorialized

South African golfing great Ernie Els has been elected for induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame. The fourty-year-old former World Number 1 received 66 percent of the votes in what is first year of eligibility for induction into the Hall. Born in 1969, Els turned professional in 1989. By 2002, he had won the U.S. Open twice and the British Open. Els now boasts 62 professional wins, including 18 from the PGA Tour and 25 from the European Tour. Known as "The Big Easy" for his impressive height (6 ft. 3 in.) and his fluid swing, Els is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time. His induction into the Golf Hall of Fame will take place on May 9th in St. Augustine, Florida.
