It was officially announced on Wednesday that Latin pop star Jennifer Lopez and legendary rock vocalist Steven Tyler will be judges on the upcoming season (season 10) of Fox's wildly popular reality series American Idol. The addition of these two celebs has been the subject of rumors for months now, and those rumors have finally been confirmed. Earlier today, Lopez and Tyler joined Randy Jackson at the Forum in Los Angeles, California for the official announcement. Lopez and Tyler will essentially be replacing Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, and Kara DioGuardi, none of whom will be returning for season 10. Simon Cowell's departure was celebrated during the last show of season 9, while DeGeneres left for her own reasons after the season was over. DioGuardi was released from the show just earlier this month, leaving only Randy Jackson to judge the mega reality show. And that is where Lopez and Tyler come in. Lopez is an international sensation, known not only for her singing but also for her acting career. According to deadline.com, she will earn $12 million in just her first season on Idol. Tyler is known around the world for being the lead singer of the hugely successful rock-n-roll band Aerosmith. These two mega-stars are sure to attract some new viewers to this already huge show. Season 10 is set to premiere January 2011 (Sources: E! Online)
