Squeeze pages are probably the most important aspect of your online business to focus on. The reason should be pretty clear to you by now - it's the front door - and the more people you can get to pop their name and email into it, the more money you'll make.
But getting your squeeze pages to convert well (and I expect my squeeze pages to convert at around 50% minimum) - that can be a real challenge...
Unless you know the sneaky and even shameful secrets of success with squeeze pages that I've discovered over the years...
Here's a quick run down of seven ways you can make your squeeze pages constrict your traffic like a python:
Tip #1 for Superior
Squeeze Pages: KISS,S (Keep It Super Simple, Stupid.)
The last thing you want to do with your squeeze pages is overwhelm or confuse your traffic. Remember, people are crude, panicky animals, and if you don't soothe their jangled nerves with clean, clear simplicity, they'll bolt. So keep your graphic design minimal, make your copy clear and to the point, and always try to make your squeeze pages load "Above the fold" (so they fit on the screen without scrolling).
Tip #2 for Superior Squeeze Pages: BE VAGUE (I know this goes against the advice of every copywriting guru on the planet but hear me out)...
Your squeeze pages are different from every other copy piece. They aren't a piece of content, they aren't selling anything, and they aren't supposed to bond you to your audience - all they are supposed to do is turn your traffic into leads. So, rather than loading your squeeze pages up with a bunch of copy that may or may not sound good to your traffic, be vague as hell.
Be specific about the benefits they'll get for opting in - but don't tell them anything they don't need to know. Your ideal squeeze pages will say and promise almost nothing. I know this sounds strange, but keep in mind, you're just trying to get them in the door. It's okay to be a little vague about what they'll get once they're inside.
Tip #3 for Superior Squeeze Pages: Don't Ask For Much.
Seriously, it's a mistake of MAMMOTH proportions to ask for a physical address, home phone, twitter ID and Date of birth. I see way too many people trying to get demographic data when all they need to be collecting with their squeeze pages is name, email, and sometimes cell phone #.
Give your traffic a chore like filling out more than three fields and they'll skulk back off to whatever trove of funny cat videos they were trolling and you'll never get to sell them a damned thing.
Squeeze pages are probably the most crucial part of your marketing funnel right now, and if you're not converting 50% or more of your traffic to leads on your list, then you need to spend some serious time making your squeeze pages simpler, vaguer, and easier to fill out.
