2008 Beijing Olympics Results: U.S. Women's Basketball Team Advances to Quarterfinals

The U.S. women's basketball team continue their mission to win their fourth consecutive gold medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Team USA (5-0) will take on South Korea in the Olympic basketball quarterfinals on Tuesday at 8 a.m. EST. The U.S. team finished as the top seed in Group B as they sailed through the preliminary round undefeated. Australia topped Group A after going undefeated as well in the preliminaries.

Tina Thompson led the U.S. team with 15 points in a 96-60 rout against New Zealand in their final pool game, earning the team's 30th consecutive win.

Thompson leads the U.S. team with 15.2 points per game, ranking sixth in the tournament. Australia's Lauren Jackson leads all scorers with 18 points per game. Sylvia Fowles (12.0), Lisa Leslie (10.4) and Candace Parker (10.0) all average double figures in points for the USA team.
