2008 Beijing Olympics Results: U.S. Basketball Team Set for Quarterfinals

The U.S. men's basketball team advanced to Wednesday's quarterfinals after defeating Germany, 106-57, in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

With the win, Team USA won all of their Group B pool games by 32.2 points and averaged 103 points per game. The U.S. team remains the only unbeaten team in the Olympics after Lithuania was blown out 106-75 by Australia on Sunday.

Team USA will now face Australia on Wednesday at 8 a.m. EST. The U.S. only defeated Australia by 11 points in an exhibition game two weeks ago in Shanghai.

According to statistics reports, the U.S. team leads the Olympic tournament in points per game (103.0), opponents' points per game (70.8), assists (20.4) and steals (14.4). They are second to Spain in rebounds with 40.2.

Dwyane Wade is eighth in scoring (16.2) behind several NBA players: Argentina's Manu Ginobili (19.6) and Luis Scola (19.2), Spain's Pau Gasol (19.4), China's Yao Ming (19.0), and Germany's Dirk Nowitzki (17.0). Wade leads all players with 73% from the field.

LeBron James is in the top 10 in the tournament in points (15.8), assists (4.4), steals (2.4) and blocks (1.4). Kobe Bryant (12.6) and Dwight Howard (12.2) are also averaging double figures.
