2008 Beijing Olympics Results: Leszek Blanik Wins Gold in Men’s Vault after Tie-Breaker Favors Pole
Leszek Blanik claimed the gold medal in men’s vault in gymnastics at the 2008 Beijing Olympics on Monday after the sport’s tie-breaker system favored the Pole.
Blanik’s 16.537 was duplicated by France’s Thomas Bouhail and both athletes shared the same difficulty in their vault leaving the gold medal in question but according to the tie-breaker standards in gymnastics Blanik took te top spot having earned the highest individual score from a judge.
Bouhail had to settle for silver while Russia’s Anton Golotsutskov scored a 16.475 for the bronze.
