LeRoi Moore, Founding Member of the Dave Matthews Band, Dies from Complications Related to ATV Accident

LeRoi Moore, the talented saxophonist and founding member of the popular Dave Matthews Band, has died from complications related to an ATV accident he was involved in June 30. He was 47.

Moore’s death was called “unexpected” as he had been undergoing rehabilitation for more than a month following the accident.

In 1993 Moore, along with lead singer Dave Matthews and drummer Carter Beauford formed what would become one of the most successful bands of the past decade and a half. Their second album, “Under the Table and Dreaming” has been certified quadruple-platinum.

The band’s website has paid tribute to Moore with their home page dedicated to him and they have posted a message noting his death, “We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia.”
