A new report released by Dr. Stephen Cantrell of NeoPlas Innovation stated that the drug Lovastatin, commonly used to lower cholesterol, may be a successful treatment for mesothelioma patients.

According to the report, the combination of Lovastatin and low-does Interferon has successfully shrunk cancerous tumors in patients suffering from melanoma and various other cancers, including mesothelioma.

Lovastatin was released in 1980 and is generally used to treat high cholesterol. Laboratory scientists soon recognized its abilities to kill off cancer cells.

Mesothelioma, also known as asbestos cancer, is a fatal type of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.
