The hip implant recall lawyers at Morgan and Morgan are available to review claims from patients who experienced an early failure of a DePuy ASR hip implant system and required a revision surgery to replace the device. New data reveals that more patients than expected experienced pain and other symptoms which led to a second hip replacement surgery. As a result, DePuy Orthopaedics, a unit of Johnson and Johnson, initiated a hip implant recall of the ASR Hip Resurfacing System and the ASR XL Acetabular System. If you or a loved one experienced an early failure of a DePuy hip implant, visit http://www.forthepeople.com/depuy-hip-implant-recall--11-2579.html to learn more about your legal rights.
New information from the National Joint Registry of England and Wales shows that within five years, one in eight patients who received the
recalled hip implants needed revision surgery. Specifically, 13% of patients with the ASR total hip replacement and 12% of patients with the ASR resurfacing device needed a second hip replacement surgery within five years of the initial procedure. According to the new data, the risk of a corrective hip replacement surgery was highest among female patients.
Patients who reported problems with the DePuy hip implant systems and required revision surgery described a variety of symptoms, such as difficulty walking, pain and swelling. Additional symptoms of
hip implant failure can include the following: unexplained hip pain, pain rising from a seated position, pain with weight bearing, groin pain and thigh pain.
If you or a loved one needed a corrective surgery to replace a failed Depuy hip replacement system, you may be eligible to participate in a hip implant recall lawsuit. Although DePuy Orthopaedics has offered financial compensation to patients experiencing problems with the recalled ASR hip implant systems, the company will only compensate related medical expenses which are not already covered by the patient’s insurance. A successful DePuy hip replacement lawsuit, however, may provide the patient with compensation for pain and suffering, lost wages and medical bills.
