Steps in the 12 Step Recovery
1. Admit that you are powerless to fight your addiction and that your addiction has led you into destruction and unmanageable life.
2. Belief in the greater power of a person who came before you and is healed by his own belief in the program can actually help you get through your fight with addiction.
3. Trust that God can heal you in more ways than one and that He above all can take you out of your misery if all else fails.
4. Soul search and have a deep interaction with your inner self to see and discover the truth why you’re in rehabilitation in the first place and if there’s any hope that you can get out of it.
5. Full acceptance of your wrongdoings. Accept the fact that you’ve committed mistakes and promise yourself never to make the same mistakes again.
6. Trust in the Lord who can take away all your negative attitudes and help you change into someone who’s more favorable and productive.
7. Give your humble request of forgiveness.
8. Give yourself the opportunity to retract and make amends to those people you have harmed and threaten during your darkest times.
9. Ask for forgiveness to people that had received your shortcomings except for those whom you still hate. Take everything one step at a time.
10. Continue to study and discover your wrongdoings in the past and fulfilling your promise to make up to the people you have hurt and injured.
11. Pray for continued healing and forgiveness from God and to help you get through the pain and misery of having to admit your mistakes as well as the strength to receive the unforgivable statement of those you have hurt badly.
12. Recognize spiritual awakening.
The 12 step recovery is your stepping stone towards a more peaceful inner self and a great way to stay clean and out of your addiction. If you can let yourself follow these steps for as long as you’re fighting your addiction, it is likely that you will get out of your addiction renewed.
Being an addict is not the end of everything; in fact it is the beginning of a fresh start and a chance to make amends with the best by showing your true value worth in this earth.
