Tennessee Central High School Shooting Leaves 1 Student Dead

A 16-year-old student died Thursday morning after a shooting at Central High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. Authorities say the shooting occurred around 8:10 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria.

One death has been confirmed but the identity of the student has not been released. Police took a suspect into custody and recovered the gun.

Central High School was put on lockdown and students were being released one classroom at a time. They were taken to a nearby church in school buses. Parents can pick their children up from the church.

No other details about the shooting were available. No other injuries or deaths were reported.
