2008 Beijing Olympics Results: Netherlands Beats United States for Gold in Women’s Water Polo
The Netherlands got a goal from Danielle de Bruijn with 26 seconds left to beat the United States 9-8 and claim the gold medal in women’s water polo at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
De Bruijn’s goal, her seventh of the game, came after Moriah van Norman had tied the score 8-8 for the Americans.
The gold medal was the first for the Netherlands in women’s water polo.
