Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica won the gold medal in the women's 200m on Thursday in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Campbell-Brown ran the 200m in 21.74 seconds , beating US star Allyson Felix, who ran a 21.93. Campbell-Brown's Jamaican teammate Kerron Stewart won the bronze with 22.00.
Campbell-Brown defended her gold medal from the 2004 Athens Olympics, in which Felix won the silver as well. Felix was the world champion in the event after winning gold in the 2007 World Championships as Campbell-Brown won silver.
The U.S. and Jamaica entered the track event with three runners each in the 200m finals. USA's Muna Lee was fourth with 22.01 and Marshevet Hooker followed with 22.34. Jamaica's Sherone Simpson was sixth with 22.36.
Jamaica has swept the men's and women's 100m and 200m as they continue their dominance in track and field.
Usain Bolt set the world and Olympic record in both the 100m (9.69) and 200m (19.30). Bolt became the first runner since Carl Lewis in 1984 to win gold medals in the same Olympic Games and the first in history to set world records in both during the same Olympics.
Shelly Ann Frazer, Simpson and Stewart swept the women's 100m as Frazer won the gold.
