Beth Ann Chester Sentenced to Three Years for Sex with Student

Beth Ann Chester, a former Pennsylvania gym teacher, was sentenced to three years of prison on Thursday for having sexual encounters with a student.

Chester, 27, was sentenced to 18 months to three years in jail with an additional five years of probation in a plea deal. The original 11 charges against her would have sent her away for 22 years.

Chester was confronted in November by the 14-year old student's parents when they found nude pictures and explicit text messages in his phone. She then resigned from Moon Area High School in Moon Township, PA, where she taught ninth grade and coached the girls volleyball team.

As part of her sentencing, Beth Ann Chester is not allowed to have contact with the student, own a cell phone or have Internet access. She will also not be allowed to teach, having given up her teacher's certification.

The student initially told authorities that he had not had sexual relations with the teacher. However, Chester, who was married, admitted to having sex with the boy on numerous occasions, including in the school parking lot. Chester's husband filed for divorce in February.
