2008 Beijing Olympics Results: United States Beats Brazil to Win Men’s Beach Volleyball Gold

Philip Dalhausser and Todd Rogers captured gold for the United States after beating the Brazilian team of Marcio Araujo and Fabio Magalhaes in men’s beach volleyball 23-21, 17-21, 15-4 at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Dalhausser and Rogers started slowly in the first set and trailed 3-9 at one point but managed to fight back and take the frame but Brazil responded in the second and looked to carry the momentum into the third but the U.S. took control right away and pounded away for the gold.

With the win the United States became the first country in Olympic history to win gold medals in both men’s and women’s beach volleyball in the same year. The team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh captured the gold in the women’s event on Thursday.
