2008 Beijing Olympics Results: South Korea Tops Cuba for Gold Medal in Baseball

South Korea’s baseball team completed a perfect run through the 2008 Beijing Olympics, beating Cuba 3-2 on Saturday to win the gold medal.

South Korea plated two runs in the first inning when Seungyuop Lee hit a two-run homer but Cuba answered with a run in the bottom half of the frame when Michel Enriquez hit a solo blast to put the score at 2-1.

In the top of the seventh South Korea pushed across another run but Cuba managed to answer in the bottom half on a home run from Alexei Bell but that was all the Cubans could get off Hyunjin Ryu who went 8 1/3 innings to get the win. Taehyon Chong closed the game out to secure the gold for South Korea.
