2008 Beijing Olympics Results: U.S. Men Win Gold in Volleyball after Beating Brazil

The United States men’s volleyball team won Olympic gold for the first time since 1988 after beating Brazil 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23) at the 2008 Beijing Games.

The Americans trailed after the first set but then rattled off three set wins to capture the dramatic victory and cap an amazing Olympic run.

Clayton Stanley led the American charge with 15 spikes while Riley Salmon finished with 12 to pace the U.S. attack.

After taking a 2-1 lead the U.S. trailed Brazil late in the fourth but Stanley came up big with several key blocks and finally put the match away with a big spike.
