Russia’s Alexey Tishchenko captured the men’s boxing light weight gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, beating France’s Daouda Sow on points 11-9.
Tishchenko built a 7-4 lead after two rounds but Sow fought back in the third and took the round 4-3 setting up an active final frame but the Russian was able to avoid the big blows and hung on to earn the gold medal.
