Passenger Plane in Kyrgyzstan Crashes, More than 50 Feared Dead

A passenger plane departing from Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek crashed shortly after taking off ad now officials fear many of the 83 people on board were killed.

The Itek Air Boeing 737 was en route to Mashhad, Iran when the pilot reported technical problems and attempted to return to the Bishkek airport when it crashed.

Details on what caused the crash have yet to be released and there were conflicting reports on how many passengers were actually on board with some estimates putting the number at 123. There have been unconfirmed reports of at least 25 survivors.
