Five Americans Among Dead After Plane Crashes in Guatemala

Ten people were killed, five Americans, after the small plane they were travelling in crashed just east of Guatemala’s capital city Guatemala City.

The plane was said to be carrying several aid workers who had travelled to Guatemala to help build houses in a small village.

It is believed the single-engine Cessna Caravan 208 experienced engine failure about 45 minutes into its flight to El Estor and the pilot attempted to make an emergency landing. The plane then crashed into a large crop field and burst into flames.

There were a handful of survivors, many of whom were badly burned. Both the pilot and the co-pilot were killed.
