Italian Priest Organizing Online Beauty Pageant for Nuns

Italian priest Antonio Rungi has announced he is organizing a beauty pageant for nuns in hopes it will erase the stereotype that the women were old and tired.

In an article published on the Times Online the priest was quoted as saying, “Do you really think nuns are all wizened, funereal old ladies? Today it’s not like that any more, thanks to an injection of youth and vitality brought to our country by foreign girls.”

The Miss Sister Italy beauty pageant will begin next month when Rungi begins posting pictures to his blog for online viewers to vote. According to Rungi there will be no bathing suit procession rather, the nuns will be allowed to submit photos of themselves in traditional nun’s attire or in casual clothing.

Rungi has said the beauty pageant had been suggested by the nuns and has said he is expected more than 1000 to participate in the contest.
