The 2009 edition of the Farmer's Almanac will be released this week, according to reports on Monday.
The newest edition of the Farmer's Almanac, which hits stands Tuesday, predicts at least two-thirds of the country will suffer colder temperatures than usual, with the Midwest and Northeast getting the majority of its cold weather in January and February.
The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions can expect more precipiation and snow in February, the almanac predicted.
Next summer, the almanac foresees near-normal temperatures in most states, except for unusually hot weather in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas during July.
The almanac outlook is contradictory with the National Weather Service, whose trends outlook calls for warmer-than-normal weather this winter over much of the country.
The Farmer's Almanac, which is not to be confused with the Old Farmer's Almanac, is an annual periodical that is known for its weather projections and astronomical data. They have a reported 80-85% accuracy rate on weather predictions.
