Democratic National Convention Offers Monday's Schedule

The 2008 Democratic National Convention offers several events on the schedule for its first night on Monday.

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Howard Dean presided over the call for order at 5 p.m. EST. in Pepsi Arena in Denver, Colorado. Monday's theme is entitled "One Nation".

Michelle Obama, the wife of the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, will be the prime-time speaker as she gives a speech on Monday night.

Monday's events will also feature a tribute to Sen. Edward "Ted" Kennedy, who suffered a seizure after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former President Jimmy Carter, and Illinois Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. will give their remarks on Monday as they headline an extensive list of speakers for Monday's event during the DNC.
