Jericho Scott, Nine-Year Old, Considered Too Good To Pitch in Little League

Jericho Scott, a nine-year old Little League pitcher, was banned from his Connecticut league for "being too good", according to reports on Tuesday.

Scott and his 40-mph fastball are too good for the Youth Baseball League of New Haven. Last week, when Scott stepped to the mound to pitch, opposing team forfeited the game, packed its gear and left.

Officials for the three-year-old league, which has eight teams and about 100 players, said they will break up Jericho's team, redistributing its players to other teams, and offered to refund $50 sign-up fees to anyone who asks for it.

According to an Associated Press report, Scott has never hit anyone. However, the League's attorney Peter Noble stated that that his precociously skilled fastball is too fast for the league.

Scott's coach and parents say that Jericho is being targeted because he turned down an invitation to join the defending league champion, which is sponsored by an employer of one of the league's administrators.

Instead, Scott joined a team sponsored by Will Power Fitness. When Scott was banned from pitching, the team was 8-0 and on its way to the playoffs .

League officials suggested that Scott play other positions, or pitch against older players or in a different league. Scott's parents are seeking legal advice to handle this situation.
