The US Ryder Cup team led by Captain Corey Pavin landed at the Cardiff Airport Monday morning for their title defense at Celtic Manor beginning on Friday. Ryder Cup wild card but world's number one Tiger Woods wore sunglasses on a dark cloudy day, whereas Jim Furyk was perhaps the one who slept more comfortably than anyone in the 12-member team after winning $11.35 million with Sunday's victory at FedEx Cup and Tour Championship.
Speaking to reporters, Pavin said, "We are very prepared and ready to go and I think it will run very smoothly". He further added, "I am just looking forward to a really nice week and actually I think it's going to be quite a relaxing week. I'm going to enjoy it and soak it all in. Some decisions have been made and some will be made and I'm just looking forward to the process and watching a little bit of golf this weekend".
European captain Colin Montgomerie believes that all the matches of the trophy will be "very closely contested" and there is every reason to believe that it will all come down to the final hole on Sunday. He said, "That's the beauty of this Ryder Cup. I think the closeness of the event over the last years has been the beauty and I think these matches will be extremely tight, extremely close".
