Ohio State highly-touted freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor is expected to get playing time in the first half of his debut on Saturday.
OSU head coach Jim Tressel announced Tuesday that Pryor will play often in the game, starting in the first half, but he will not start. Tressel has also said that Pryor has shown a lot of maturity, humility and is a perfectionist who wants to get a lot better.
The Buckeyes open their season against Youngstown State on Saturday at noon. Pryor is currently ranked No. 3 on the depth chart at quarterback.
Pryor, the nation's top rated high school player last season, selected Ohio State over archrival Michigan, adding to the biggest rivalry in college football. Many believed the dual-threat quarterback would have been perfect in new UM head coach Rich Rodriguez's spread-option offense.
As Ohio State recovers from a loss in their second consecutive BCS National Championship, Pryor has been involved in much of the anticipation talk for this upcoming season.
It is expected that Pryor will be utilized with OSU starting quarterback Todd Boeckman the way then-freshman Tim Tebow was used with Chris Leak for Florida in 2006. UF won the championship that year and Tebow won the Heisman Trophy last year, giving Buckeye fans a lot of hope for Pryor.
Pryor, the 6-foot-6, 235-pound quarterback from Jeannette, Pa., became the first player in Pennsylvania history to run for 4,000 yards and also throw for 4,000 yards.
