Nevada Football Team Finishes In The Top 25 After More Than Six Decades

After 62-year wait, Nevada has finally made it through to the top 25 in football polls. According to the results released by Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN on Sunday, the Wolf Pack has managed to climb up to No. 25 in both the leading national college football polls. After 1948, this is the first time that the team has ranked in Top 25.

In his interview to AP on Sunday, Nevada's present coach Chris Ault said that it is ""very exciting news". He further added, ""I'm sure our players will be fired up". Earlier, he had refused to comment on the poll results until after the end of the season.

Alabama once again occupied the top position in both polls followed by Ohio State and Boise State

Texas had the largest fall in rankings following its defeat to UCLA, dropping 14 points from No. 7 to No. 21 in the poll by Associated Press and from No. 4 to No. 16 in the poll by USA Today/ESPN. Oregon also moved up to gain the fourth spot in both polls.

Since becoming a member of the Football Bowl Subdivision (previously known as Division I-A), this is the first time for Nevada Wolf Pack to achieve 4-0. The team defeated Birmingham Young on Sunday 27-13, following its victories against Cal (52-31), Colorado State (51-6) and Eastern Washington (49-24).
