Football Coach Fired for Mooning Fans

William Miller, an assistant coach for the Boys and Girls High School football team, has been fired for having mooned opposing fans after an altercation with referees during a Saturday game. "He's a volunteer, he's not a DOE [Department of Education] employee," said New York City DOE spokeswoman Margie Feinberg. "So the principal can ban him from being an assistant coach."

The incident occurred after a controversial call during a game between the Boys and Girls and Campus Magnet. After being ejected from the game for incessantly shouting profanities, Miller pulled down his shorts and mooned heckling Campus Magnet fans. "He was trying to degrade them," said Campus Magnet head coach Eric Barnett. "but he ended up degrading himself and his program.

I've been involved in situations with controversial calls before and I've never reacted like that." It is unknown whether Boys and Girls head coach Barry O'Connor - who was also involved in the altercation - will receive any sanctions, but Public Schools Athletic League commissioner Alan Arbuse says an investigation is under way. "I want to call Barry and give him support." said Barnett. "But I don't know if it's my place to do so, so I haven't yet." (Sources: ESPN.com)
