The Japanese aid worker who was kidnapped in Afghanistan on Tuesday was found shot to death on Wednesday.
According to Afghan officials the body of 31-year-old Kazuya Ito was recovered in the eastern province of Nangahar. Ito had been inspecting an irrigation project as part of the Japanese aid agency Peshawar-kai when he was kidnapped.
Two colleagues of working with Ito were kidnapped as well but they were freed by Afghan authorities.
