USC Trojans Football Schedule Released, Season Opener on Saturday

USC Trojans will begin their 2008 season against Virginia on the road on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Southern Cal enters the season with its regularly high as one of the perennial powerhouses in all of college football. They return 11 starters (just four on offense), losing quarterback John David Booty, offensive tackle Sam Baker and tight end Fred Davis. On defense, they lost first-round draft picks Sedrick Ellis and Keith Rivers.

However, Southern Cal head coach Pete Carroll always keeps their talent pool stocked. Joe McKnight is the closest to Reggie Bush the Trojans have had since Bush departed for the NFL. Mark Sanchez will take the helm as the quarterback.

On defense, the Trojans return two All-Americans in Rey Maualuga, arguably the nation’s best linebacker, and Taylor Mays, the country’s best safety. Brian Cushing has also made a couple All-American lists at linebacker, giving USC the nation’s top linebacking corps for the second year in a row.
