CPSC Warns Against Simplicity Bassinets, Two Infant Deaths Linked

At least two infants have died in a convertible “close-sleeper bedside sleeper” bassinet manufactured by Simplicity Inc. One baby in Shawnees, Kansas was strangled to death August 21 after becoming trapped between two medal bars attached to the side of the bassinet. Her death is the second linked to the Simplicity bassinet.

The U.S. Consumer Safety Commission is urging anyone with the bassinet to stop using it. CPSC has issued a safety alert as SFCA Inc, who purchased Simplicity Inc. in April 2008, has refused to issue a recall.
