Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, is expected to announce his VP decision within the next 24 hours, according to reports on Thursday.
McCain will likely select from a short VP candidate list that includes Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, former Pennsylvania governor and current Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge and Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin were also listed as possible VP candidates, but both have declined the notion.
The McCain campaign has scheduled a rally in Dayton, Ohio at noon on Friday and is expected to have his vice president choice with him. The two will also make appearances in Pennsylvania and Missouri.
It is unsure if McCain will announce his VP selection on Thursday or Friday due to rival Barack Obama's anticipated speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Thursday night.
McCain and his presidential campaign is gearing up for the Republican National Convention, which will go from September 1-4 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
