Vancouver Island in Canada was struck with a 5.8-magnitude earthquake on Thursday, according to news reports.
The earthquake's epicenter was located about 95 miles (153 km) west-southwest of Port Hardy, Canada, and about 293 miles (472 km) west-north-west of Vancouver, Canada.
The USGS originally reported that the earthquake measured 6.1 in magnitude. This is the 18th earthquake to hit Canada this week.
Several other quakes were reported at Vancouver Island later. The agency also recorded quakes from the same area today at 6:14 a.m., registering 3.9; a 4.2 quake at 12:28 a.m.; a 4.0 quake at 12:59 a.m. and a 4.8 quake at 2:20 a.m.
