The company earned $58.7 million, or 27 cents a share, from $5.5 million, or 3 cents a share, in the prior-year quarter. Excluding one time charges, the company earned 52 cents per share.
Revenue grew 38% to $3.86 billion from $2.80 billion in the same quarter last year.
Analysts were looking the company to report earnings of f 49 cents a share on revenue of $3.89 billion.
For the full-year 2010, the company sees its net revenue of $3.9 billion to $4.0 billion, GAAP earnings of 43 cents to 47 cents per share and core earnings of 53 cents to 57 cents per share.
Analysts currently expect earnings of 53 cents per share on revenue of $4.09 billion.

Walgreen Company (NYSE:WAG) shares surged 9% to $33.04 after the company this morning reported its fiscal fourth-quarter results, that easily beat the analysts’ consensus.
The company said that its profit during the recent quarter jumped to $470 million or 49 cents, or 15 cents a share, from $436 million or 44 cents in the year-earlier period. Excluding special items, the company earned 53 cents a share in the latest quarter.
Revenue grew 7% to $16.87 billion.

Analysts were eyeing the company to report earnings of 44 cents a share on revenue of $16.84 billion.
"The double-digit increase in fourth quarter earnings per share was driven by strong operating performance across our 7,500-store network and expense control companywide," said Walgreens President and CEO Greg Wasson. "We were able to once again generate increased cash flow from operations for the quarter, and for the year we returned a record amount of cash to shareholders in the form of share repurchases and an increase in our dividend for the 35th consecutive year."
