Forbes Magazine released The World's 100 Most Powerful Women list on Thursday. Germany chancellor Angela Merkel tops the list this year.
Merkel is the highest-ranking political official in Germany, which has the world's third-largest economy. Just as China is close on Germany's heels with the fourth-largest economy, China Vice Premier Wu Yi is second on the list behind Merkel.
Singapore's Ho Ching is the wife of the country's prime minister and the executive of the country's state-owned investment company, ranking her third on the list.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and PepsiCo Chairman/CEO Indra Nooyi round out the top five.
The U.S. had the most women with 27 of the 100 women listed. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg; Oprah Winfrey; Melinda Gates, the wife of Bill Gates; and Hillary Rodham Clinton all made the top 25. Queen Elizabeth was ranked No. 22.
