Man Blinded by Foul Ball at Minor League Baseball Game Loses Eye

A North Carolina man who was hit and blinded by a foul ball while attending a Greensboro Grasshoppers minor league baseball game underwent surgery on Thursday to have his eye removed.

According to doctors, Carroll Masters suffered complete destruction of his left eye when he was struck by the ball while attending game with his wife and 2-year-old son. Masters had been returning from a concession stand when incident occurred.

Masters told MYFOXWGHP Channel 8, “It wasn't long that I was laying there and I could hear the EMTs saying 'Oh my God, why are they still playing ball?' and I actually heard them say stop playing and another ball came our way.”

Masters will have his left eye replaced with a prosthetic.
