maniaTV, the leading independent online television network and birthplace of original web television hits Dave Navarro’s Spread TV and Tom Green Live, today announced the launch of At the Show, a 13 episode web TV music series created in partnership with Spaceland Recordings. Shot from the world renowned Los Angeles locations, Spaceland, Echoplex, and The Echo, (which are known for breaking and showcasing the best artists on the independent music scene, and widely considered a hipster Mecca and launching pad for well known musical artists such as Beck, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Jet, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, Snow Patrol, The Black Keys, The Killers, The Shins, Silversun Pickups, Weezer, Death Cab for Cutie, The White Stripes, and the Decemberists) the series will feature 30 minutes each week of multi-camera performance coverage, views from the dance floor and exclusive interviews with hot independent bands such as The Long Winters, The Thermals, and Does It Offend You, Yeah. The season will culminate in one of Spaceland's famous secret shows, with an indie superstar returning to their roots and playing a one-off club date for a thrilled capacity crowd.

The footage will be co-produced by Spaceland Recordings and maniaTV and hosted by maniaTV’s energetic music host/fanatic, Brendon Schultz. The series, which is sponsored by Motorola’s Rkr E8 music phone, will premiere on a dedicated show page on maniaTV.com, segments of which will be syndicated to maniaTV’s partners, AOL, Yahoo, YouTube and others. Select video highlights, pictures and mp3 tracks from the performances will also be available for download via the Rkr E8 site. Spaceland will maintain a high degree of creative control and will promote the artists further via its tastemaker network of broadcast and web partners. The video from the series retains a raw and gritty, in club, feel intended to bring the viewers an authentic experience from their computers and mobile phones. Spaceland and maniaTV will announce the other 10 acts, including the season finale mega artist, during the course of the series to keep an element of suspense, excitement and surprise for viewers. The deal was brokered between Stefan Goldby (maniaTV VP of Programming), KamranV, (Founder/President of Spaceland Recordings) and Mitchell Frank (Founder/CEO of Spaceland) and will be produced by KamranV and maniaTV's Sr. Music Producer (and former MTV veteran) Amy Finnerty.

“While mainstream media gets excited about a Justin Timberlake concert, we know there are millions of people out there dying for a look into hot emerging artists from the center of taste making culture” said Stefan Goldby. “This deal, combined with our behind the scenes music show, All Access, gives our viewers a great opportunity to experience the artists and new indie music scene unlike anywhere else.”

“The venues are small and intimate. We're excited to open our virtual doors to people from all over the world without sacrifice to the people at the shows" said KamranV. "The raw nature of this series will give independent music fans unique insight to the level comfort that bands and fans from around the world have in our unique clubs.”

About Spaceland, The Echo and Echoplex

Spaceland, an alternative rock/indie rock nightclub in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, has long been a mainstay in the live music community and was the first club in LA to book artists such as the Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Jet, My Morning Jacket, Scissor Sisters, Snow Patrol, The Black Keys, The Killers, The Shins, and many others. Echoplex is a live music venue located in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It is owned and operated by the same people as The Echo, and the two are considered sister venues. It is located and commonly described as being "below The Echo," leading some to erroneously believe that it's official title is "Echoplex Below The Echo." Along with The Echo, Echoplex is affiliated with the infamous Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Some notable performers to have performed at Echoplex include The Mars Volta and Beck.
