Ayodhya Judgment: Both Sides Decide To Knock On The SC Door
Zafaryab Jillani, the Sunni Waqf Board counsel, described the verdict of the Allahabad High Court on the Ayodhya case as “disappointing” and announced that they would challenge the judgment in the Supreme Court. Speaking to reporters, Jillani said, “We have three months, we will certainly move the Supreme Court”, while adding that the decision was “against the settled principles of law and evidence adduced by the Muslim side”.
Sunni Waqf Board’s account was dismissed by the court by a 2-1 majority.
Jillani said that he would review the text of the verdict thoroughly and discuss the issue with Babri Mosque Action Committee and the All India Muslim Personal law Board. He expressed hope that peace will be maintained across the country and that nobody will take the dispute to the streets.
Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, on the other hand, has also announced to move Supreme Court. Chairman Paramhans Ram Chandra Das said that “it was not a question of victory or defeat for any section of society”, while adding that they would take the matter to the Supreme Court.
However, Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, associated with Vishwa Hindu Parishad, insists that the judgment has proven the Hindu point of view right that a Hindu temple was present at the site and that it was the birthplace of Lord Ram. “We are happy that the High Court has recognized the historical fact that the Ramjanmabhoomi temple existed at the disputed site”, he said.
