A recent positive drug test has landed actress Lindsay Lohan back in jail. In a hearing on Friday, Sept. 24, Lohan appeared before Judge Elden Fox in Beverly Hills and was ordered to spend four weeks in jail while she waits for a probation revocation hearing.
Her estranged father, who has gone through his own legal troubles, watched the proceedings from the back of the courtroom. "It's a horrible situation,” Michael Lohan told CNN.com. “I just hope the judge remands Lindsay to a rehab for a longer period of time and the people in Lindsay's life that are destroying her life and leading her down the wrong path are weeded out."
Lohan’s Past Jail Time
Lohan has already spent 13 days in jail followed by 23 days in a court-ordered rehab program this past summer due to a parole violation. Since then, Lohan has been required to take frequent drug tests because of her supervised probation for a 2007 drunken driving conviction and was warned by the judge that she would be sent back to jail if she was found using.
"Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result," Lohan tweeted on September 17. "Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away overnight," Lohan also posted on Twitter. "I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps."
Lohan’s trouble with the law dates back to 2007, when she was arrested twice.
