The climate was too hot for the Penguins on Saturday as the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes roasted Youngstown State 43-0 on Saturday in their 2008 college football opener.
While the offense rolled up 43 points and 495 total yards the real story was the impressive Buckeyes defense which allowed just 74 total yards and five first downs. On 21 running plays the Penguins managed -11 yards.
Offensively the game ball went to Ryan Pretorius who booted four field goals, 28, 31, 26, 50, all in the first half. Beanie Wells had a strong game as well collecting 111 yards and a touchdown on the ground before leaving in the third quarter due to a leg injury, doctors have since said x-rays were negative.
Todd Boeckman showed he wasn’t quite ready to hand over the quarterback spot to Terrelle Pryor just yet as he threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns to guide the offense. Pryor did get some time under center though and completed 4/6 for 35 yards and added an 18-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.
Ohio State will host Ohio next week before traveling out to Los Angeles to take on the University of Southern California
